Sanctification

Scripture:
But now, being free from sin, and having been made servants to God, you have your fruit in that which is holy, and the end is eternal life. (Rom 6v22)

In justification, God declares the believer righteous because of the righteousness of Chirst. Through justification, the condemnation that sinners deserves is removed because atonement for the sin is paid for by Chirst's death on the cross. Sanctification is the continuous process that begins at our new birth in Christ and is completed in heaven.

Sanctification is the gracious work of Christ where He progressively delivers us from the pollution of sin. To be sanctified means we are to be set apart from sin and sinful behaviour, and to be righteous and lead a righteous life.

Upon our justification, we received the gift of the Holy Spirit. However, as christians, our mission is to work out our salvation in fear; to cultivate the fruits of the Spirit, to bear fruit to the glory of God.

O Lord, I need your constant filling of your Holy Spirit to enable me to cultivate the fruit of the Spirit; love, joy, peace, a quiet mind, kind acts, well-doing, faith, gentle behaviour, control over desires. Help me Lord, to remain and abide in you. Watch over my mind, body and soul so that I do not wander away from the ways of God. Keep me away from temptations of the world. Santify me so that I am transformed to be more like Chirst.
